As a tourist attraction, BRTV's goal is to provide jobs for
local people, summer employment for the youth of Cheyenne
River and stimulate the economy of the reservation.
Guests staying at BRTV will have the opportunity to tour
the reservation to see historical sites and visit other
culturally
relevant places. BRTV is located near beautiful Lake Oahe,
offering guest’s opportunities to fish, boat, swim and enjoy
the scenic wonders of the area. Trailrides and nature walks
will be offered for those who wish to leave the beaten path
and get into the heart of Lakota country to experience the
abundant flora and fauna of the reservation.

Tipi Village
Buffalo Run Tipi Village (BRTV) is located on the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation in South Dakota, three and a half miles west of the Missouri river on highway 212. When completed BRTV will be comprised of seven fully furnished Lakota style tipis, a modern kitchen and dining facilities, shower and restroom facilities, gift shop & information center, dance arboretum and a sacred Medicine Wheel. BRTV differs from most tourist destinations of a similar nature in that the goal is to educate both the Indian and the non-Indian population about Lakota people in a meaningful way.
Honoring the Lakota Animals
Each tipi will be named for an animal that plays an important role in Lakota spirituality. Lakota people believe that embodied within each animal is a teaching that when followed will promote peace and well being within a person.
